Enamel erosion refers to wear of tooth enamel. Excessive wear of enamel can be caused by a number of reasons including soft drinks, dry mouth, acid reflux, medications, and malocclusion to name a few. Acid reflux is something a dentist may pick up on because the lingual portion of the lower incisors will show wear. This is the only reason for wear on the lower teeth on their lingual side. Treatment of enamel wear may include medicine to combat acid relux, or a biteguard.
